Not gonna lie, I’m not particularly jazzed at the idea of reconfiguring my entire (extensive) denim collection, but, unfortunately, I don’t get to choose what’s cool in fashion and what’s not. I’m just the messenger, and the message is that exposed ankles are on the way out, and longer jeans are on their way in. But before you bust out your floor-skimming bell-bottoms, let me get into the specifics.

This shift in trendy denim is actually quite subtle—nonetheless, it's still very important. Think a one- to two-inch increase in the optimal jean length, so whereas right above the ankle used to be the sweet spot, now it’s just before the top of your foot. A perfect example being the above snap of street style star Nausheen Shah at New York Fashion Week taken just a few days ago. If, like me, you’re on the shorter side, this could mean simply skipping the tailor next time you buy jeans, but for others, it might involve actively seeking slightly longer pairs. Either way, I’ve got you covered with the coolest non-cropped jeans for the season ahead, all in one place. Just keep scrolling to start shopping.

Kendall Jenner would create the perfect vintage-inspired pair.

These gray jeans are the perfect change-up for your usual all-black look.

The black stitching makes these summer-ready ecru jeans a cool fall and winter option, too.

The perfect faded blue wash.

You can't go wrong with Re/Dones.

I have these, so I can vouch for how good they are.

You already know these will look good with ankle boots, so it's an easy decision.

I love that you can always count on Levi's for an on-par, under $100 option.

These have all the flattering qualities of a skinny jean just with a slightly wider fit at the bottom.

A built-in belt always helps.

Style tip: Paperbag jeans look especially good with tighter tops and sweaters.

Throw on a pair of square-toe boots and you're good to go.

Alexander Wang always adds a cool factor.

We all need a flattering black jean.

Great jeans and an even better casual Friday outfit idea.

Cargo details are a definite yes in my book.

For a baggy fit that's still flattering.

Everyone needs a flattering pair of black jeans in their life.

Did you know Topshop sells (most of) its jeans with inseam options so you can choose the length that's right for you?

Khaite's denim is garnering cult status among the fashion set, and it's clear why.

Long enough for even the tallest girls.

One of our editors says this is the biggest denim trend of 2019.

These mid-rise jeans look perfectly relaxed when paired with heels and a tank.

Up next: 27 fall bags you won't believe are under $150.

Clearly, Who What Wear editors love skinny jeans as much as the next person. We've broken down the best It girl–approved ways to wear them, the best brands to buy skinny jeans from, and how to wear them like celebrities. As ubiquitous as they are, however, they are far from the only denim option you need. As Nicole Kidman just proved, a sleek pair of wide-leg jeans are an absolute wardrobe essential—and might even convince you to hold off on your beloved skinny jeans that can feel restrictive on...

Kate Middleton's look for her latest public appearance was decidedly more, well, nautical than what we're used to seeing her wear. But as we recently reported, she has a new stylist (and former British Vogue editor) that's helping to craft her looks as of late, and she's keeping us on our toes. The nautical-inspired look is one that instantly gave us visions of chic Parisian girls. Sure, Breton stripes and navy, red, and white may be a bit of a French-girl cliché, but honestly, sometimes style c...
