While there is a range of 2019 trends that appear to be trickling into 2020 (hello, ’90s denim), puff-sleeved pieces could definitely be considered one of the most popular. TBH, if you were to look at some of the most forward-feeling sweaters, trench coats, and blouses that hit the market over the last few months, there’s a high likelihood that each featured this pretty and whimsical shape featuring exaggerated shoulder details.

While I personally adore the trend (so does my mother, FYI), celebrities are also on board. That’s right—A-listers like Jennifer Lopez, Kendall Jenner, and Katie Holmes have been routinely stepping out over the last year in puff-sleeved numbers to bring that directional and modern feel to their ensembles.

And believe it or not, if you head over to Nordstrom, you’ll notice a range of power-shoulder pieces trending as well. These are so popular, in fact, that a slew of shoppers is currently viewing them right now. (You can tell by clicking on a product and spotting a line highlighted in red that showcases the exact number of people viewing that product.) And, yep, it’s those celeb-favorite puffy pieces that seem to have especially high viewership.

To dive into this all a bit further, I rounded up some of my favorite celebrity outfits featuring puff-sleeved staples and shopped out an inspired iteration available at Nordstrom. Keep scrolling to amp up your 2020 wardrobe even more.

The puffed-sleeved white blouse (with a turtleneck layered underneath) is particularly forward with distressed straight-leg jeans and booties.  On Katie Holmes: Khaite Brianne Top ($476) and jeans

The power shoulders on this white blazer bring an extra layer of sophistication to this elegant ensemble.  On Jennifer Lopez: Michael Kors outfit

A peasant-style cropped top with puffed sleeves is playful with printed pants once the temperature starts to warm up.  On Hailey Bieber: Kenzo outfit; Gelareh Mizrahi bag

It’s no secret that slouchier blazers are a massive trend right now—especially those silhouettes with power shoulders.  On Kendall Jenner: Eckhaus Latta blazer; Adidas Originals Sneakers ($80)

A printed dress with puffy sleeves is statement-making on its own. All this look required was a sleek pair of heels and a simple bag. On Tracee Ellis Ross: Balenciaga bag

While a standard blouse would work flawlessly with this skirt-and–knee-high-boots outfit, the more architectural blouse is even more special. On Victoria Beckham: Victoria Beckham blouse, skirt, bag, and boots

The puffed shoulders here bring even more dimension to this fitted blazer with an on-trend sweetheart neckline. On Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: Versace jacket and trousers

The fuzzy fabric, slightly cropped cut, and short sleeves make this knit especially appealing.

Not your average white button-down.

Yes, peplum tops are having a major moment again.

This puff-sleeved sweater could easily become your new go-to.

Just imagine this beauty with leather trousers for a fun night out.

New go-to party top, anyone?

Pair this black top with jeans and booties for a cool and laid-back vibe.

Try this pretty knit with trousers, jeans, or a skirt. The options are endless.

This satin top would really pop against dark-wash trousers.

We’re going to see this pretty lilac hue more and more this year.

Take your go-to casual look to the next level.

Clearly, Who What Wear editors love skinny jeans as much as the next person. We've broken down the best It girl–approved ways to wear them, the best brands to buy skinny jeans from, and how to wear them like celebrities. Kate Middleton's look for her latest public appearance was decidedly more, well, nautical than what we're used to seeing her wear. But as we recently reported, she has a new stylist (and former British Vogue editor) that's helping to craft her looks as of late, and she's keeping us on our toes. The nautical-inspired look is one that instantly gave us visions of chic Parisian girls. Sure, Breton stripes and navy, red, and white may be a bit of a French-girl cliché, but honestly, sometimes style c...
